UPDATE: This video seems to be not playing on YouTube now. I'm uploading a new one and will link it here when it's done.

It's finally time to make use of the massive collection of steel ingots we've been stockpiling since we first built the metallugric infuser-- we turn them into heavy duty plates to form rocket parts to assemble in the NASA work bench, but then we crash before we can even launch!

Game:

Blackstar and Narcogen try out the weekend beta session of The Elder Scrolls Online, the upcoming MMO based on the Elder Scrolls universe. Narc has played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim on consoles, but Blackstar is an ES neophyte. Is the game fun, and does it live up to the reputation of its single-player brethren?

To build our rockets we need the NASA Workbench, and to build that, we need more diamonds. Time to start blasting.

Game:

There's no sense asking if the air's good when there's nothing else to breathe. On the moon, there won't be, but asking won't help-- we have to build equipment to store and deliver oxygen for us.

Plenty of oil has been refined into fuel; now Blackstar and Narcogen need to install a system that will bring it to our launch pads for rocket fueling! That means more fun with buildcraft pipes and Mekanism generators and cables.

Blackstar and Narcogen notice a strange source of extreme lag buried underneath the village. What they find will terrify you. If you're afraid of villagers.

Time for some more modernization! We replace vanilla minecraft's wooden ladders with some neat elevators, and build the launch pads for our rockets.

We've got a proof of concept for our concrete factory, except that things are going the wrong way in some of the pipes, materials are spilling out onto the floor, and finished product is getting lost. Got to sort this out before we can get to building!

Game:

The base now has sufficient power and materials, so we want to start building things again. However, a space age facility shouldn't be made out of wood and cobblestone, so we have to put together a factory system to mass manufacture some modern materials!

Game:

The collection is actually the first game in the AI War series, Fleet Command, and five expansions released between 2010 and 2013. The developer, Arcen Games, is working on a new entry in the series due out later this year, called The Last Federation. All feature competitive and cooperative play against human or AI players. It runs on Windows, Linux and Mac OSX, and supports cross-platform multiplayer.
Steam has just put up for sale the entire AI War Collection: six titles for less than five bucks!

This free, open-source empire-building game lets  you lead your tribe from the stone age to the space age. Now there's an HTML version playable in browsers, even on mobile devices! Features network and play-by-email options as well, and supports Windows, Linux and OSX with cross-platform play. Currently the OSX version is out of sync with the latest stable version (latest Mac version 2.3.0, latest stable for Win/Linux 2.3.5).

The successor to the Quake engine-based Nexuiz, Xonotic is a fast-paced multiplayer shooter, similar to Unreal Tournament or Quake 3 Arena. Features FFA and team play.

This modern port of Stuart Cheshire's classic tank multiplayer game Bolo still runs on modern versions of OSX, is still free, and is still fun! The game's homepage is down as of this writing, so we may even try to get permission to host this one ourselves. A map editor is also available.
